Plays videos
The Viewtrader player opens other members' videos on YouTube in a second tab and counts the time watched, also in the background.
What it does
Four jobs, all on YouTube
Links your channel
You verify once in YouTube Studio that the channel is yours. Viewtrader never gets access to your account.
Checks every action
Views, likes, subscriptions and comments are checked on YouTube itself before anyone gets credits.
Checks again later
Likes and subscriptions are checked again during the first 60 days, so they stay.
Privacy
Which permissions it asks for, and why
The extension only works on three websites. It can't read other tabs or other sites you visit.
- youtube.com
- Play videos, check likes, subscriptions and comments
- studio.youtube.com
- Verify that a channel is yours and import your videos
- viewtrader.net
- Connect the extension to your Viewtrader account
- Storage
- Remember your login and settings in the extension
- Scripting and alarms
- Run the player and the timed checks on the sites above
Which browser do I need?
Google Chrome (version 110 or newer) on a desktop or laptop.
Does watching keep counting when YouTube is in a background tab?
Yes. You can use other tabs or apps while a video plays; the extension keeps counting in the background.
Chrome can pause a tab completely when Energy Saver is on and the video plays without sound. Let the video play with sound (a low volume is fine) or turn off Energy Saver in Chrome.
Why does the timer stop during ads?
Time while an ad plays doesn't count towards a view. The timer continues as soon as the video itself plays again.
Do you need my YouTube password?
No. You verify your channel once in YouTube Studio with the extension. Viewtrader never gets access to your YouTube account.
Will Viewtrader show up in my YouTube Analytics?
No. The extension opens YouTube in a new tab and goes to the video from there, so viewtrader.net never shows up as a traffic source.
